For my second lab in a software engineering course, we were asked to develop
a order processing system for a group of restaurants. One of the features of this system would
be the ability to have delivery pathes explicitely outlined (map and directions). We were asked to use the
Google Maps API. Lastly, I wish to mention that the application is a Java Swing application.
I have managed to display the map using static google maps (with various waypoints etc...)
My problem lies with the driving directions. I have thought of two approaches and would greatly appreciate
any advice on the matter.
Parse the xml file generated by the google directions api and generate a simple html string that can be inserted in a
Use xslt to transform the generated xml file (by google) into a basic html file to be displayed in a JEditorPane
While the output is similar, I realize there are subtle differences between the two approaches. I apologize if this seems
like a trivial matter to many. Again any advice (or documentation) would be greatly appreciated.
