while configure jboss with mysql there is a step as follows

Delete the file server/xxx/deploy/messaging/hsqldb-persistence-service.xml

what is this xxx and where is it?.

The server comes with various server profiles (like "default", "all", "minimal") under the JBOSS_HOME/server folder. The xxx is just a place holder for the profile name.

As for the messaging/hsqldb-persistence-service.xml file, it doesn't apply for JBoss AS6, since JBoss AS6 ships with HornetQ and not JBoss Messaging, to which that file belongs.
