Hello everybody.
I am working on a project of compression. In the user interface i want to add the effect of ADDING.... and EXTRACTING..... in the same way it is present in Winzip. Means i want my user interface to be just like winzip in which while ADDING or EXTRACTING files ,file names are shown and LOADING effect( green rectangle move constantly saving its previous image)

The effect must be realistic, in the other words, the progress must be calculated based in the real extracting process.. so make sure to do that, you can create listeners that would be called as the process occurs!

You can also use an API like http://code.google.com/p/jbusycomponent/ that help you to show and follow tasks executions.
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
