I'm taking some code from DocumentToString and want to properly understand the terms of the copyright (I'm assuming that the copyright at the bottom of the page applies to anything that doesn't explicitly otherwise have a copyright). I can't find the terms of that copyright; I wish there were a link I could click to get that.
If possible, it would be nice to copy the answer at my email since I'm on here infrequently.
In my opinion, that code exists all over the internet in similar forms and as such would be difficult for the Ranch or anyone else to claim explicit ownership.

I agree that copying a code snippet on the internet is fine. It is meant to be a sample. In this case a sample of a really pattern that nobody really owns.
The whole page is copyrighted. So if you were to copy the page text "Another common question is how one gets a string representation of a given DOM object...." and republish it, that would be bad. Using the code for personal use is quite different as you can see.
