Hi, I got great news today. I passed.

I have no idea how well I did as there are no details but I will take the certification(I worked hard on it. Approx 280 hrs work from a rough estimate). I probably went a little overboard but better too much than too little.

Time for a well needed frosty mug of beer.

I want to thank everyone here for their great support. Especially Robert and Roel. The tools and advice were very helpful. Also I want to thank JavaRanch for this
great website for Programmers. It is awesome.

Cheers,
Greg Funston OCPJP, OCMJD

Just some quick notes:

I submitted my assignment on March 18. Received results today. That is only 12 days and I submitted late on a Friday so it is even less.

One of the successful candidates had his back in 2 days and said he used logging extensively. I took this to mean that logging and
readability of your code is very helpful to the examiner so I concentrated on this. I found it helpful personally to work on my code as well.
This added a lot of work but I think it was worth the effort.

I did not use a custom table design.

I used the ReentrantLock and Condition Class to control locking.

Cheers,

I set up the exam date 1 week in advance. I wrote before submission after reviewing my assignment requirements which stated "When you have completed your assignment and your essay exam, you may submit your assignment". As such, I was still a little uncomfortable with submitting too much later than my exam so I submitted my assignment almost immediately. I was very careful to go over the submission details to make sure I did not automatically fail. It was a good thing too. I had spelled one word incorrectly. As every statement I have read regarding submissions was very careful to say "submit your assignment according to the assignment document you received" I recommend you submit according to your instructions. Even though that is in quotes I am paraphrasing. I paid by visa. I looked for a discounted exam vouchers but there do not seem to be any.
