The future of JavaFX

First let me thank for taking the time to promote your book by answering our questions.

Oracle has announced that the JavaFX scripting language will be discontinued and that it will introduce normal Java API's to provide the functionality.
What do you think about this move? Does your book cover these API's?

I have been doing a kind of mini research regarding discontinuing the support for JavaFX Script. In this interview on InfoQ, Richard Bair told that JavaFX Script support would end, but another project Visage has been forked which is based on JavaFX Script.

What remains to be seen is the community/group activity on this fork out. Also, since the project has no Godfather, I fail to see a future here for JavaFx Script

New projects being forked from existing ones has happened quite a lot of times before. Visage is being supported by Apress. Lot of technologies have prospered even without the support of Godfather.

It all depends on how the community would adopt the new technology/language. Even with the support of a bigger organisation things can fail if the ideas are not good, appealing

True Mohamed, but then JavaFX Scripting did not appeal to many and I am speaking this from experiences of colleagues who I have been working with over years and the project may only appeal to those who have embraced scripting for developing JavaFX based applications.

I myself didn't like JavaFX script and was finding it difficult to adopt initially. So Java apis for JavaFX would be a welcome change for me

and with this the existing GUI builders can be used.
