Data Model for SCEA-2

Has anybody submitted the data model of the assignment as part of deliverable? I have started my assignment with data model & wireframes in my notebook just for my understanding and then once I feel good about these two, I am gonna create sequence diagrams and component diagrams and then finally class diagrams -

I know it looks weird but some how I feel comfortable doing it this way. Are there drawbacks of doing it this way? As most of the projects we start in our company, start with wireframes, DB models and then move to real design and development.

There is nothing wrong with your approach to design, But I don't advice you to submit the data model to SUN. You can keep it for your reference, But it is not part of the mandatory deliverable for this certification. Adding this will not fetch you any additional marks, But on the flip side, it could contribute to the confusion of the evaluator. So I advice you not to submit it.

I did the same and I think that it's the right approach in design. Data comes first, and data model is the central artifact in design. How your designers would understand the architecture if they don't have a data model in front of them?..

Thanks guys!

Yegor,

Now my data model is in great shape, passed all validations. Created JPA entities by this DM in 5 minutes and all entities look ok to me and they are in sync with domain model relationships.

Question: 1) Did you submit data model or just the JPA entities class diagram. I think both provides exactly same information.
2) I have created wire frames which are in sync with DM and they are just hand written so far. I have no time to draw them using tools as there are no extra marks for them in the exam. Do you think, I should spend time and submit proper wireframes so examiner can understand what's in my mind? or scan copy of hand written wireframes will also be ok?

I provided only JPA entities in my class diagram.

I created very simple Wireframes using Visio 2010 and it can be done quickly and easily. But you need to understand there is no extra marks for them. Sending scanned copy is a good idea-haven't heard of it, may be you can try it out and let us know
