sum of nonexisting column

i have a query which is returning multiple rows i need to add them & then to display the result

Please help me out

select count(*) as ef from file_reg where (sec_code="+no+")) ;

now i want that as ef comes out to be multiple values so final answe should be the sum of all

how can i do it
please help me
