You are in real hurry to have a technical question answered.

Is it okay here to offer somekind of bounty (inform of paypal, say $20, depending upon question) for first sucessful answer.
It may motivate someone to spend sometime to answer the question.
I don't think there will be much fraud in it.

That would induce people to rush and would reduce the quality of replies.

There are a host of problem actually

1. If users can get paid to answer questions, why would they attempt to answer the ones that are not paid ?
2. Paying would increase 'homework' questions
3. Dispute over pay is a big headache
4. Who handles the manages the transaction ? Paypal ? Credit cards ? Javaranch is a public forum. Private data is best left - private.

What motivates people in this forum is the willingness to help others. Petty money is unlikely to motivate this gregarious bunch.

Huge +1
Also what Bear and Campbell said.

If you have money to spend to get your questions answered, you can always put it in the Tip Jar

If yo uhave a teaching job, you would expect to be paid for that, but as people have said, we are here specifically as unpaid volunteers.

My experience with competetive based approach is, It increases the level of quality.
But, once they see a solution from experienced person ( anything of insecurity ), people would be reluctant to answer the same or reluctant to put the efforts they would otherwise be ready.

What about the questions, that are not getting answered even for 3-4 days ( Of course, period defined on level of urgency)?

Is there a way to address this problem somehow ?

Sometimes unaswered quesions are a sign that the question is vague or hard to approach. And sometimes it is something people dont know.

There are some sites that give you paid help for "small" doubts like fixya, experts exchange etc. I dont know if you can solve your problem there and if those sites are good.
Anybody tried such sites ?

PS : There may be a small problem though. What comes first : payment or answer ?

And what if there is a dispute? If a good answer is given but the poster doesn't like the answer?

Also, I would actually be less likely to answer. I am busy as it is -- so why send time answering a question that will likely get other answers?
