This week I'm really overwhelmed. Between working 68 hours and rehearsals for a concert this weekend and babysitting while my daughter is at work (my son-in-law is out of town and she works graveyard shift), I haven't had time to breathe. Hopefully this weekend when I go out of town for a couple days, I can at least get my thoughts organized. If I can't get the nitpicking done, I'll at least put a list here of the assignments I have pending.

Edit: Changed title to reflect current situation

Good luck, Marilyn!
I think Pauline is taking off for a while as well, except on vacation, not on overwhelm - feel free to send a couple of nitpicks my way if you need to.

Sounds like a lot of balls to juggle, I hope the concert goes well,

good luck.

All the best, Marilyn. Hope you will soon be back to a normal level of

I hope things calm down for you soon, too! But, where does that leave those of us waiting for some nitpicking? I have been waiting a week to get my very first assignment returned. I am excited about moving into some more involved assignments. Cheers.

Be patient. I have been waiting a while longer than that but I am happy to wait. The nitpickers do provide this service on their own time and they do a great job, albeit I sometimes think they are a bit over critical of my code

Also bear in mind that when you get your first nitpick back you might not be moving on to the next one, it may well be that you are rewriting the first assignment

Rory, have I <em>ever</em> been critical of your code?

I was asked to QA some code the first week in my new job. They failed to mention what I was testing for, so I basically broke it in about seven different ways, and politely (cheerfully) suggested that we add some data validation before we released it. One of the developers looked at me and quietly said "man, you are hard core".

I have to admit that I never thought of myself as hard core. I'm don't even consider myself particularly good at testing/quality assurance. But I do take an enormous amount of pleasure in seeing something be incrementally refined.

I think that the cattle drive has honed that appreciation in me.

I still write ugly code. Heck, sometimes I write code that is downright embarrassing! But I take great pleasure in refactoring it. Sometimes I'll see code that I refactored six months earlier, and see new changes that will make the code even easier to read, and that delights me.

It's purely disgusting vanity on my part Marilyn, but would you happen to have the odd moosehead lying around ready to be nailed up?

I recall seeing one somewhere which only had one eye - but it's OK - that will do just fine
