asList method not for primitives?

Hi All,

In the following code :

   import java.util.*;

public class AL{

	public static void main(String args[]){
    
	 int x[] = {20,45,90}; 
	
     List p = Arrays.asList(x);
	    
     System.out.println(p.size());
	
  }
}

 

I am getting size of list as 1.
But if use wrapper Integer , it showing 3 (which is correct).Doesn't asList method support primitive types?

Hi,

I think here you are creating the array as a single object and passing it to the method asList().
This method add the array object to the list at its 0th index.

So there is only one element in the list returned ,which is the array of ints.

So the output will always be one.

While ,

List p = Arrays.asList(20,45,90);
System.out.println(p.size());

will give you a output=3
