Question about creating ang registering a server object in RMI registry

Hello,
I've one question in developing RMI application:
After creating the the server interface and the server implementation class , we
create a server object from the server implementation class and register it with an RMI registry:

My question is at the first line
We create an object of ServerInterfaceImpl

and assign the reference of this object to an object of serverInterface type

why don't we assign the reference of the object created to an object of ServerInterfaceImpl type as follow:
