I'd also suggest doing some tutorials that walk you through writing a basic Struts application. If you're using an IDE, it's a good idea to find a tutorial that is geared toward the IDE you'll be using. For example, if you're using Eclipse and MyEclipse, This tutorial might be of interest.

If you're using NetBeans, This tutorial would probably help.
