Besides learning Java obviously, what other languages would I have to learn to do web development with java. Would I have to learn XML PHP SQL HTML?

No PHP.

For any web development, you'll need to learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the client side. On the server, Servlets and JSP will be the first step. XML too. That's just for the presentation layer.

After that, there are frameworks to decide upon (or not).

For the model layer, JDBC/SQL or a tool like Hibernate will be needed.
