Hi All,
I want to start learning flex..but I am not able to find the first steps
First I cant use flex builder or flash builder as I am working from office and installing a trail version is not permitted and they wont buy it unless we are going to use it ..not even for POC
Hence I downloaded the flex SDK and downloaded a sample .mxml file and compiled it .the out put was just the .swf file and no Html(I expected both as it was mentioned that way in the getting started book)
Now how do I open the .swf file ..from control panel it shows that adobe flash player is installed but IE wont open it.. looks like I am lost can some body provide some links to getting started with flex with out any IDE

Without an IDE this will be hard work, something you might point out to your company's tech. guys. If its for your job and they are stopping you I'm sure your manager would help.
Sounds like you don't have a plugin in IE for Flash. You should probably get the debugger version from Adobe and install that. Also, without Flex/FlashBuilder you will need to write and deploy the page you launch the swf from.
NB: do you use Eclipse normally? You can get Flex/FlashBuilder as a plugin for that too. Still a trial version, but you would get 60 days to try it. (I suppose its all down to how draconian your company's IT usage policy is).
