Does Google have any plans to have Android certification a la Oracle Java certification? Or are there any other reputable ones?

Thanks!

The best Android certification you can get is probably to have at least one app in your name in the Android Market and to have it get decent comments and ratings.

Don't take comments to personally ;) You'd be amazed ... your group texting app doesn't make my screen resolution any higher. 1-star. App sucks. That's the kind of feedback that can be found pretty easily. Oh, and that's all the same comment. Not verbatim, but you'll get dinged for things your app doesn't do nor does it claim to do.

Nidhi,

I follow the android developers group. Although it is the last place one would here rumors I haven't seen any one talking about certifications yet.

I am sure they have a place.

Just to humor, I don't take any certifications because I am quie afraid I will fail in most of them.

It's not just with the job market in mind... but in my experience, studying with a certification in mind helps fill up the gaps in knowledge which come from learning just on-the-job.... where one ends up knowing deeply about certain aspects of platform - required for that project & little about others. Also, it would help hiring manager make a more informed decision.

Yes, I do have an app in market. Some good, some bad comments (to be honest bad ones are justified , I just haven't had time to go back & release version 2).

Hoping Google comes up with an Android certification program...

I doubt it. Google doesn't seem a company that values certifications much, so it wouldn't make sense for them to administer one themselves.
