Hi,

I tried installing ExamLab on my windows 7 machine via http://examlab.tk/. It did not work due to the JET driver issue. I did not find a way to uninstall it so I just installed the vista ready ExamLab via http://examlab.tk/beta/. Now it says that the setup was completed successfully. However, after I try to open and register it says "Error accessing windows registry" after clicking the Register button. I am installing as admin and have restarted my PC.

Anyone encountered this before ?

Thanks,

The ExamLab works very well only on WinXP, for Vista and Windows 7, you may be able to install a beta version from here: http://examlab.tk/beta/.

Yes that is what I did as I mentioned in my original post. However, I have a feeling that something got messed up since I installed the xp version first and then installed the beta version on top of it.
I dont see a way to uninstall it completely and re-install fresh. Anyone know how to uninstall this ?

Just go to the restore point that was created before your first installation of examlab and reinstall software. Way in winxp and may similar in win7 : start-> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> here you will find restore point manager

Try this for your exam-lab (and for any other software that throws such wierd errors on window$$$ 7) :

right-click your program>properties>compatibility TAB>CHECK THE BOX "run this program as an administrator">ok.
Now run setup.

The above can be done for some programs that instal without problems but give odd errors when you run them eg Tomcat.

PS : To the moderators - please add these steps to tomcat, exam-lab etc help pages.

Finally got it to run !

1. Right clicked the ExamLab --> Compatibility.
2. Checked the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and chose Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
3. Clicked the box "Run this program as administrator".

Thanks all for the suggestions.
