I have a little project that i'm working on with a client - server architecture on a local network

My question is:-

If i were to send out a udp message with the ip address of the sender; the server will listen for this packet and then initiate a tcp connection with that device. Is this an efficient way of initiating a connection without the client device knowing the ip of the server on a local subnet?

If there is a better way, could someone recommend some reading for this?

Thanks!

I believe, this is an efficient way. However, please ensure that you take care of security aspects, otherwise, in future if your application is exposed over the internet you can anticpate hacking !
