Reading the Servlet 3.0 Spec?

In reading through JSR-315, Ch. 14 Deployment Descriptor, Figure 14.1, I was wondering if there was a document/spec/rfc/etc. for the symbols in the figure. I understand some of the obvious ones like 0..infinite, but there are others that I'm guessing at. Does anyone know how these figures were generated? If a tool was used to generate these figures? Or am I wasting my time in trying to understand them?
