Hi vamsi,
1. Your basics of core java must be strong. This is because Android API is fully made up of Java.
2. Buy a best book on Android. I recommend the following:
i. Beginning Android by Mark Murphy
ii. Hello Android by Edd Burnett
iii.Unlocking Android by Frank Ableson, Charlie Collins, Robi Sen

Try the Android SDK docs; they provide lots of code snippets and help for getting started. But a book is really your best bet.
