any difference between installing from local and mapped drive ?

If the installation .exe file is located on a shared LAN drive, I can either map my local M: drive to that LAN drive and then I can execute the .exe from my local M: drive, or I can just download the .exe and related files to from LAN drive to my local C: drive and then execute the .exe from C: drive (in this case n mapping of drive is needed).

Question is -- Concerning the installation (executing .exe) on my PC, is there any difference between these two methods ?
