Hi All,
I want to take SCJP 5 certification in the next 3 months. Can anybody suggest me where in bangalore can I take this and more details about the certification?

Is this certification valid now after Oracle's acquisitation ?
Is there any Difference between the Oracle's version to this SCJP 5?
Which certification is better to take now?

It would be great if anybody can provide me the above details on the SCJP 5

-Thanks & Regards

Take the latest version of the exam- SCJP 6//OCPJP 6.
They are delivered in any of the Pearson Vue centers in bangalore- You can try in NIIT centers as well.
Please read the ScjpFaq
Also read the FAQs at: http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/category/FAQs

Thanks for the information and quick response .

But, I am comfortable with Java 5 since I am prepared whereas I am totally not aware of whats new in Java 6.
Moreover, My project uses only Java 5. Hence I want to stick with it.

If you are prepared for java 5, then in three months you can very easily prepare for the new features in java 6.

Also don't base your decision to take SCJP5 on the version of java your project is using currently. Its always good to take latest certification, rather than taking an old one and then later going for an upgrade exam.

Not much changes between SCJP 5 and SCJP 6- Baring a few api addition. Do check out the differences in ScjpFaq. There aren't any major changes between the 2 versions.

Bottom line is that you are still dealing with Java- the same syntax

Since technology is always changing, stay with the LATEST is the BEST decision...If your company decided to upgrade Java 6 or the Latest, isn't it's good that you have Java 6 certified ?

I started with Java 2 and worked with Java 4 & 6, and got certified with Java 6. Do you think I should get certified in Java 4 ?? Absolutely not, the LATEST always the BEST choice to KEEP UP with the technology.

As JDK7.0 is planned to get release in July, may be SCJP6.0 will be out soon.
So why you are plannning to give 5.0

Upgrade yourself with newer technology..

I can only agree with most other posts here, there's simply no reason not to go for 1.6 instead.

Especially since I understand the main difference is only Navigable collections and the Console class. Maybe this is not 100% correct, but thats' what I was told by my professor and trust me when I tell you, these 2 things are a piece of cake to learn in comparison with everything else you need to learn anyway.
