So I got a Kindle for Father's Day. I've some cool free-or-cheap stuff for it already; what have I missed? What should the well-appointed geek's Kindle contain?

Have you looked at the
Bestsellers in Kindle Store
. The right hand column is the top "free" books and games.
Although I don't use it so much anymore, I think
Calibre
is great if you want to create your own content.
