In a nutshell:

I read somewhere that since the OCJP 6 exam time went down 30 minutes, there are no drag and drop questions anymore? I am not sure whether my information is reliable so i wanted to ask you (whoever has taken the exam recently) whether you have encountered any D&D questions...
Thanks for the info!

Oracle Certification Blog Post

Some interactive question types were removed from several Java and Solaris exams (including "matching" and "drag-and-drop" questions).

I recently took the OCJP6 exam and there was no DnD questions, I suspect they are taken out.

Thanks Amu! They were quite time consuming, so if they reduced the available time then they should have compensated with something. Which they did.

I appeared for the exam just yesterday and cleared it with a good score.
There were no D&D questions. Also there were no questions on Serialization and wait/notify.
There is a new strikeout feature that I loved. The exam was 150 minutes and passing percentage was 61%

One tricky question that I faced in the real exam was something like this:

[discussion of a potentially "real" question removed by moderator]

The questions were not that much difficult as compared to ExamLab.

Is it ok to prepare from this book or is there any newer version of this book to prepare for ocpjp? are there any new objects added this year which would not be covered in this book? Hi Ash,

The exam objectives have actually been slightly narrowed since the book's publication:

http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_851#3[/url]

Specifically, the concurrency topics of wait/notify and the entire subject of serialization have been removed.

thanks
please i need help on this sample question from oracle website

Is the answer not supposed to be 7 7 0

4) Given:
2. import java.io.*;
3. public class Network {
4. public static void main(String[] args) {
5. Traveler t = new Traveler();
6. t.x1 = 7; t.x2 = 7; t.x3 = 7;
7. // serialize t then deserialize t
8. System.out.println(t.x1 + " " + t.x2 + " " + t.x3);
9. }
10. }
11. class Traveler implements Serializable {
12. static int x1 = 0;
13. volatile int x2 = 0;
14. transient int x3 = 0;
15. }

If, on line 7, t is successfully serialized and then deserialized, what is the result?
a) 0 0 0
b) 0 7 0 (*)
c) 0 7 7
d) 7 0 0
e) 7 7 0
f) 7 7 7

REFERENCE:
API
Option B is correct. Because static variables belong to the class and not to instances of a class, they are not serialized.

This should probably be in a new topic but it shouldn't take too long to discuss.

Well, it looks like you understood that transient variables are not serialized, however neither are static variables. After you deserialize the object neither the static variable nor the transient variable will have been initialized so their values are both 0. This leaves you with the answer (B) 0 7 0.

Hello Ademola...Be informed that the topic SERIALIZATION is NOT on the exams however it is a good idea to have a glance through the topic because as a professional programmer you will come across implementations of the Serializable interface...That said, in addition to Aj Jaros response...Variables marked transient can be "manually" serialized by implementing a specific method in the Serializable interface...For futher details you can consult the API.

Ikpefua.
