should ios be opensource like android ?

Android is an open source platform by google developers and ios by apple developers. Recent statistics estimate that 300,000 Android devices are being activated everyday. cause their is many choices available to user to choose different mobile vendors. Should ios also be open source to compete android in future.

I bet very few people look at or use the android source code; its success has other reasons. I'd also bet that apple makes a lot more money per iOS device than any of the android device manufacturers; why change?

I am agree with you. But if we talk about future and look as the user or customer. Than their is many vendors of android so competition take place and phone become cheaper. But in the case of iphone it's costly than android phones.

If iOS will become open source then Apple era will be ended. I strongly feel that iOS is the major reason for Apple go ahead in the race of PC market.
Apple is able invest a huge amount of money behind research and development only because of the profit earned from iOS and iPhone devices.

It’s all about how one market their products. Inspite of being a closed platform, Apple has been fantastic in keeping the community engaged and it’s increasing everyday. It’s a healthy and collaborative community and as long as they can maintain it, there is no reason why iOS be made opensource. They are earning lots and lots.

I have heard a news where a 15 years old boy from china sold his kidney to buy an iPad. Well, this says it all for Apple.

Not really, not every business model should be modeled after the open source.
Non technical people don't care or even know whether iOS is open source of not.

Apple makes a boatload of money with iOS devices. Are you saying Apple should open-source iOS in order for competition to emerge, so that they then make less money because they'll sell fewer and cheaper devices? What kind of business advice is that? Apple is not a charity.

Besides, while Android has made great strides, it didn't come without problems caused specifically by its open source nature, and Apple isn't done dealing with it, either.
