A Facebook application using Flex

I am a beginner in developing Flex applications. I am also new to developing apps on Facebook platform (Just started this week.)
I am through developing a flex application that has the following objectives:
1. Searches for people on Facebook by name. (and get the Facebook ID)
2. Using the Facebook ID, the application fetches the status updates of a person sorting them on a chronological basis. (If the privacy setting is set to public!)

I have designed the GUI.

I used the Graph API to search for people & updates of a particular user.
ex: https://graph.facebook.com/search?q=Metal+Saint&type=user

How do I get to use the JSON to display the name, picture, user name, ID of the person.
I also need to know the next steps - searching for a particular person's updates, if they are public.
