Passed SCJP with 93% - exam is MUCH easier than the book

Firstly, you NEED to study the book.

But once you've mastered that, and can pass the practise exams with around 65-70%, then the exam should be a breeze

Good luck everyone.

Raj, it's the "SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Study Guide" by Sierra and Bates.

Also the "OCP Java SE 6 Programmer Practise Exams" by same authors is worth getting too.

Good luck mate.

hi Steve Melbourne,

My OCPJP Practice Exam Percentage-

Practice Exam 4 -- 70%
Practice Exam 1 -- 66%
Practice Exam 2 -- 68%
Practice Exam 3 -- 72%

but my problem is time , these exam takes time upto 4 - 6 hour with break
what you suggest me
1) to improve speed with more mock
or
2) to jump in real exam

Hi Gaurav,

I would say that you are ready to take the exam!!!

If my own prac exam results are any guide: 63 68 65 76%

Then Real exam: 93%

I am beginning to think it is a deliberate strategy of the authors to 'toughen you up' through the study book and the prac exams, before giving you an easy ride in the real exam.

Also remember the "choose any" turns into "choose two" or "choose three" on the real exam questions and this "hint" gives you perhaps an extra 5%. It certainly helped me to deduce the answer on 3-4 questions out of the 72 that I might have otherwise had no idea.

Good luck mate. You've done the hard work... go for it.

Congratulations Steve

I also want to register for the exam but have confusion about the registration process.

how long have you registered for the exam before appearing for the real exam?Should i make the preparation and then register or i can register first and then start preparing.

Hi Megha,

Since you can register to take the exam on the very next day, and the preparation is long and involved, I recommend you prepare first.

My study took 3 months, and in the last week I did 6x three hour practise exams.

Once you get 65-70% on the practise exams consistently I would say you are ready to take the real exam.

I booked it through the "Pearson Vue" web site.

Good luck, Steve

Also if you have questions about the registration process - try calling the exam center.

I spoke to a very helpful staff member at the testing center in Melbourne.

He was able to find out that the exam code had changed from 310-065 to 0Z1-851.
