If you cannot find something that you are interested in or even passionate about, you may not have picked the correct field. Is there nothing that interests you?
Java ME is most certainly not the wave of the future.

It can be quite confusing choosing an area to focus on for your M. Sc. IT Dissertation because there are so many areas to choose from. It's one of those things you have to decide for yourself. Choose an area that interests you. A dissertation is supposed to test your research skills. It usually doesn't have a big impact on your professional life. For my M. Sc. IT Dissertation, I chose to research the security features of SOAP, but I haven't used SOAP much in my professional life.

There are a lot of topics you can choose from. Android, Cloud Computing, Distributed Applications.. , Hadoop..
Try to choose something in which you are interested instead of choosing something which can fetch you a job.
