Polling Database Tables

Hi all,

I have a requirement whereby I need to poll a database table for a record and then invoke some processing on that record - the question I have is how best to perform the poll?

I appreciate this design isn't ideal, however I'm interfacing with a legacy application and the only mechanism they have to communicate to me is via a record insert.

So, what's ideas do we have for polling the database table given my application is going to be deployed within a high availability cluster?

Thanks,

Chris
