This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I was running my regular maintenance stuff. While running Verify Disk I got a prompt saying I need to repair my disk.
1) Is this normal
2) Do I need to worry a lot about my disk crashing in the near future.
I am aware of the Time Machine thread and I am one of the morons who does not use Time machine. I do selectively backup my data manually though.
I wouldn't call it "normal", but it's generally not something to worry about. Sometimes apps crash in a way that leaves some of the disk information in an inconsistent state. This warning is about that, not about the disk hardware going bad. Most of the time, choosing the Repair Disk will actually succeed in doing so.
