project management certifications?

I am new to project management.
I am thinking of getting certified.

I am wondering how much more difficult is the PMP/Programming manager exams from the comptia project+ exam?

I believe I am almost ready to pass the project+ exam just wondering how much more effort it would take to wait/study more and get the PMP certification instead?

If I am correct the PMP / PMI exams are the most prestigious to obtain in IT management. Correct me if I am wrong?
