Hi guys : Im having trouble distinguishing the line between build tools like maven/ant and configuration tools like puppet. Are such tools overlapping ? or complimentary ?

Well, there is some overlap but it is usually the case that a certain tool is better for a certain purpose than another tool. I can use both a wrench and a hammer to pound in a nail, but one is a heck of a lot easier to use.
