response timing issue on Windows 7

Here is an example of the response packaged by my code after processing and saving some data.

The response is then intercepted by a Remote Scripting callback function that simply opens a modal div to indicate that the saving process is complete.

This particular response works beautifully on all servers, but not on my Windows 7 machine. On my machine the callback function is not called at all, although the response is sent and looks exactly like the one shown above (using Fiddler2).
If I comment out all parts of the code that precede the sending of the response, the response is sent and the callback function is executed no problem.

I am struggling to find a reason. It seems some timing issue specific to my localhost, since the same code works fine on every other server.
Any suggestions on where to look for the problem ?

Note that no errors are thrown anywhere.
Note also that I developed that piece of code on my machine and it worked just fine until the last time I tried it.

Please help !!!
