Please anybody can explain me what is the mappedBy in Hibernate?

mappedBy (used in annotation mappings) is EJB3 terminology which means the same thing as inverse (used in XML mapping files) i.e. it is used to indicate which side is the owning side. Hibernate supports EJB 3 persistence annotations.
