This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I frequently use the popup function to add type arguments to ArrayList or HashMap in Eclipse. All of a sudden it's not working. When I roll-over the item I want to add my arguments to and select from the popup the 'infer generic type arguments' I get an error box with the following message:
"To activate this refactoring, please select a set of compilation units, packages, source folders or Java projects".
Has anyone else seen this and knows how I can get things to work again? All I found on the web was something about a refactoring but that was fixed a year or 2 ago.
I don't know if this is a factor but we are doing manual ant builds - not Eclipse's auto build feature. My compiler is java 1.5_12.
Also, it doesn't automatically find my Java tasks. It does find xml, jsp and html todo's though.
I'm using Eclipse Galileo for java EE developers 1.2 - Eclipse platform 3.5.2.

Well, it looks as if I fixed it. I changed the build's source code locations and then ran my ANT build, did a refresh on the project and it looks as if things work again.
I still haven't figured out why the tasks that I setup in java aren't automatically added to the tasks list - and I have the correct view open as well.
