tooltip in jsp

i have a jsp file in which there is a small image. the code for it is: <img src="english flag.jpeg"/> assume it. now when i point over the flag image i should see a textual short information or what you call it tooltip . should i include alt in the code. but it didn't work: <img src="english flag.jpeg alt=" some text""/>
