I have just joined in an IT company in maintainence and support. My work use spring mainly its dependency injection, hibernate integration and JMS features. I wanted to know how beneficial spring certification be for me, I looked for the details but the exam is too costly , so wanted to be sure that this will benefit me ..
Any certification is greatly benefit and distinguish yourself from crowd. I'd take the cert if I need to, otherwise, I won't if it's from my own cost.
Have the company you work for cover the cert cost since it will benefit the company anyway. Only experience and knowledge count, the cert is just proved that you're the most qualified person for the job so, I guess you know what's the real benefit of having the cert here. :-)

I had takes the training & am also Spring 3.0 certified.
I feel that the course content is quite useful as it provides a good overview of all important concepts & features. The labs are also quite good as they give hands on experience. The faculty for the training that i attended in Bangalore was also quite experienced. My advice is that in case you are going to be using Spring, you should go for the training, even if you have to pay for it from your own pocket. The investment will definitely pay off.
