It looks like it is USB to PS2 mouse convertor. And PS2 port has data pin along with other pins so if you can rewrite the mouse driver you can actually read data.

I read this and laughed. My wife wanted to know what I was ROFL about, so I reached into the drawer next to me and made one, and handed it to her.
