Can I hot deploy a simple .jar file to JBoss?

Hi,

I am trying to figure how to enable hot -deployment of a simple jar (which contains a single java class) into JBoss.

I have attempted to deploy to the common/deploy directory, but without success...

Is plain jar deployment even supported on JBoss? (some references say it is and some say it's not... a bit confused here).

Should the jar contain any jboss.xml or some other property file, besides the .class? I created the jar using my eclipse environment...

If the JAR contains EJBs, then it will be deployed. Otherwise it will be ignored. JARs without EJBs should be placed into an app (WAR, EAR, etc) or into common/lib or server/xxx/lib.
