One option is to checkout Apache's Felix implementation (http://felix.apache.org/), which contains several samples.

Likewise, you can also try Eclipse's Gemini (http://www.eclipse.org/gemini/).

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
