Spring In Practice

I was just wondering what the authors opinions were of the convergence of Spring and EJB in the future and what Spring is going to give us above EJB? It seems to me that with DI being available in EJB3, and the new Closeable interface in Java 7 that some of the nice features of Spring are now available to non-Spring projects so what will Spring offer above this?
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
