See if you can find more details about why the GlassFish Server failed to start from a console or server view. Sorry, I don't use Netbeans so can't give more specific direction, but you should be able to find a more detailed report of why the server wouldn't start. Once you have that additional detail, you'll be able to get better help to resolve the problem.
I faced a similar problem with getting my Tomcat Server to start in Eclipse, but I was able to find excellent advice to solve my problem by Googling the specific Tomcat error messages I received.
