Passed the OCEJWCD 6 with 75%

I passed the exam this morning with 75%... i prepared OCPJW 5 (with HF JSP & Servlets ed-2 readed twice ) during 2months and 2 weeks ago, i wanted to take the OCPJW 5, but since there is a new version (Expert) i hesitated and i wrote to Oracle for asking how long the OCPJW 5 will be available and if it will be an upgrade exam for OCPJW 5 to OCEJWCD 6. They answered that they don't plan retire the OCPJW 5 and there is no upgrade exam.. they adviced me to go for Expert Certification so i decided to go for it.

i started preparing the OCEJWCD 6 : i didn't wanted to read all the Servlet 3 specification (maybe that's why i only got 75%) i went through some tutorials i found on internet about the new features, i took the mock questions from Nullhaus blog (very good) and i bought the Enthuware mocks (very good)...

The exam was not very though, but some questions were confusing and the quality of the exam is not very good : there are some syntax errors on the tag or DD element...
i got around 20% of questions on JEE6 (annotations, web fragments, security, pluggability, asynchronus,...) and the rest was about jstl, custom tag (2-3 question), EL, JSP,...

it think it's better to go for OCEJWCD6 than OCPJW5... and earn the Expert credential

i think now, during my master class i'll go for Spring (maybe the certification also.. i'll see) and Android developement... and later EJB certification.

All the best for thoses who are preparing the exam...

only the fact you cleared the OCJP1.6 should build your confidence... why would you like to go from SE 1.6 to EE 1.5... it's better to remain on the new versions
it's an option to go first with 1.5 then later go for 1.6, but right now, your memory on the lessons is fresh and you need just a bit effort to prepare the 1.6 (by reading the servlet3 spec and taking mocks exams).

In one word, continue to prepare the 1.5 and be ready for that, then take time to work on the new features of servlet 3 and everything will be fine

Congratulations Hermann Laghom !

I got SCWCD 1.5 two years ago, should I go on with 1.6 version? How much is the different between version 1.5 and 1.6?

Congrats Herman!!!

I wanted to ask how much time did you spend looking on the new features for EE 6 exam(days, hours)?
I am too preparing for the 5-th version and have recently decided to spend some more time and go for EE 6.

@Nam Ha
Thanks… i think it's a good thing to go for 1.6 who is the new version. As you know, all the programming languages evolve.. the 1.6 added
- Annotation who makes the deployment descriptor optional for a web application by allowing to define servlet, filter, initParam,listener… directly in your servlet using annotation
- Pluggability and Extensibility who allows to easily include frameworks in your current web application without modifying the existing DD, and allows also to programmatically declare servlet,filter and their mapping url.
- Asynchonus for suspending and resuming request processing…
- And others features

The new exam will test your knowledge on these new features (including the 1.5 topics).
As you are already 1.5 certified, pass this exam will just show that you are up to date.
here is a the link to oracle webiste about the exam : http://bit.ly/pJUDXV
All the best

@Alexander Sales
i think you have took the right decision to go for the EE6. when you'll be ready for the EE5, take time to through the new features on EE6 and take all the mocks exam you can on it.
i prepared the new features during 2weeks (around 10h per day), through some tutorials on internet, the servlet 3 spec, NullHaus blog and Enthuware.
The preparation is a little tough because you don't know what exactly is/isn't include on the exam, wich classes/method you should know,etc… the good think with HF JSP&SERVLET is that they give you only what you need for the exam.
let's hope the will write a 3rd version of the book

Thanks for the advise Hermann Laghom! I will follow your steps thoroughly but I wont be able to study 10 hours a day because of work.
