Hi!
If you are new to web services, my suggestion is to put Axis on hold for a while.
Start by learning the basics by doing some JAX-WS tutorials and play around with the examples, preferably using GlassFish which is distributed with the JAX-WS reference implementation Metro pre-installed.
The NetBeans site has a section with good web service tutorials: http://netbeans.org/kb/trails/web.html
Best wishes!

Hi Harish,

Web services now can be designed using two approaches:

1. Soap

2.Restful web services

To learn soap based web service in java here is a complete reference from oracle:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17802_01/webservices/webservices/docs/2.0/tutorial/doc/

and http://www.softwareagility.gr/index.php?q=node/28

To learn Restful web services using jaxb or jibx using spring framework is :

http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/webservices_rest/

http://home.ccil.org/~cowan/restws.pdf

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
