The Java developer's responsibility is to prepare detailed design, develop applications and provide documentation. The successful candidate is also responsible for testing applications and providing estimates when needed. The employee must also ensure that developed applications respect the company standards and uses the best practices in terms of Java development.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•Develop the application (mainly in Java) using company’s standards and existing libraries.
•Verify and validate information with the business analyst to ensure the application meets the requirements.
•Inform manager of any major problems encountered or events that could delay the delivery of the project and provide project status reports.
•Test the application using tools or techniques to ensure the development of high quality, bug-free applications.
•Transfer developed applications to the validation environment; follow through with quality assurance team to ensure completeness of testing.
•Fix bugs and problems found by the quality assurance team related to the application.
•Prepare database transfers, feeds, etc. to transfer the application to the production environment.
•Perform change requests for other developers’ applications.
•Assist and participate in project meetings / kick-off meeting.
•Deliver accurate estimates to project managers based on information / documentation received.
•Read, understand and give feedback on the needs analysis provided by business analysts.
•Write detailed designs based on needs analysis by following company standards and submit it for review. Detailed designs contain application architecture, high-level packages and classes, database diagrams / layouts and any other relevant information.
•Track development time; submit timesheets and vacation requests to manager.
•Participate in the research of new tools, new techniques and new versions of existing tools.
•Present technical details of developed projects to the team or organization.

Education & Experience:
•Java developer must have at least 2 years of experience in Java application development (preferably Java Web application development.
•This position requires a bachelor degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline. College degrees combined with experience and exceptional knowledge are also accepted.
•Bilingualism is an asset.

Competency Requirements:
•Excellent knowledge of the Java programming language.
•Excellent knowledge of design patterns and programming concepts.
•Good knowledge of the Hibernate framework.
•Ability to understand and write SQL queries.
