hi javaranch..

i have a very strange problem some people are experiencing my GUI not to show on there system??

it shows and works on my 2 systems that i test it with but other people seem to be having problems with the main GUI not showing at all??

i have got them to update the JDK and JRE but it still fails....

is there a catch i can use when i launch a desktop app to tell me what the problem is as there is no errors or anything just wont start,...

here is what the lauch looks like...

even if i disable the new StartupScreen the main GUI just dont start??

any idea or do you need more code??

So the startup screen *does* show, but not the main GUI?

What does the launch method do?

on the system that does not show the mainGUI does show the startupScreen if it is enabled..........
if the startupScreen has been disabled it wont show the EncoderHDView GUI???

no errors and only happens on a couple of machines.....

i have this at the moment to try and test to see why it will fail

but not sure how i can force a error or debug it some how so i know why it is not showing???

it works on 98% of machines but some dont... i have tested it on xp/win7 they work fine on my system but not some peoples...

the fact that it still shows the startupScreen on the failing machine but not the main app makes me think i am doing something wrong...

but i just need to get a error or something back telling what it thinks is wrong??

its a java desktop application

ok progress

it seems this will give me the presious error but still not enough detail i get this error now..

java.lang.NumberFormatException:For input string: "12,20" ".

is there a way for the error to be the full lenght error with code lines etc like when you debug it in a IDE??

as that 1 line just aint enough info do i need more then a JOptionPane to show the whole error or do i need a different catch??

1) check your logs; the entire exception is logged.
2) call e.printStackTrace()
