Surely you can think of some application that would make your life easier, no?

I taught myself servlets and JSP way back when by developing a few applications that I found essential. I cook, so one was a recipe-storing web app. I'm a movie buff with more DVDs than I can keep track of, so I wrote a DVD inventory app. I'm also a big fan of an old game named Black Box, so I wrote an online version to play.

What sparks your imagination?

Or take a look at this, http://www.projectideas.co.in/ . As Bear told, you could begin with small useful projects, as they will also motivate you to go on and learn further, because you'll be more proud to see that you got done something that will be used by more people. At least this method works for me. I hate all those school projects with no sense, but I like to smash my brains with apps that I can deliver afterwards. So, you can go to that website and look for some projects to start with, and who knows, you might even make some cash

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
