Trouble adding children with FastTree

Hi,

I'm using GWT 2.4 and trying to implment FastTree. I'm having a problem getting children to appear. I have the below code ...

public class FastTreeDemo implements EntryPoint {

	public void onModuleLoad() {
		StackPanel p = new StackPanel();
		p.add( createTree(), "My Tree");

		RootPanel.get().add(p);
	}

	...

	private Widget createTree() {
		final FastTree fastTree = new FastTree();
		final List<String> nodes = getRootNodes();
		for (final String node : nodes) {
			final FastTreeItem rootNode = new FastTreeItem(node);
			
			// Add a placeholder child.
			final FastTreeItem placeHolderChild = new FastTreeItem("Placeholder");
			rootNode.addItem(placeHolderChild);
			placeHolderChild.becomeInteriorNode(); 
			
			rootNode.becomeInteriorNode();
			fastTree.addItem(rootNode);
		}	// for
		return fastTree;
	}

However none of the children with text "Placeholder" appears (the root nodes appear fine). Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
