This week's book giveaway is in the OCPJP forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA/OCP Java SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide and have Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates on-line! See this thread for details.
We have an application with client -server model. Application server uses JBoss as web server and the DB uses Oracle 10g as database. Currently we are facing a peculiar problem. Intermittently [and suprisingly at off-peak hours] we get the below mentioned error for few seconds and everything works fine thereon. This happens even though we have tried to run the application and DB on the same machine.
2011-10-07 00:00:11,046 DEBUG [org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.IdleRemover] run: IdleRemover notifying pools, interval: 90000
2011-10-07 00:00:11,046 WARN [org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.JBossManagedConnectionPool] Unable to fill pool
org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Could not create connection; - nested throwable: (java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection)
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

Please revert back if anybody has any solution. Also would like to mention that this application was running for last 3 years without this kind of issue and no major setup related changes were done.
The application and database servers are hosted in managed network and administrator says that on their part everything is fine... confused no way to go... have checked all possible configuration files...
Does the exception is thrown in mid of a transaction ?

Thanks for reply
It happens intermittently not specific to any transaction... the system was up and running perfectly suddenly we started encountering mentioned network adapter issue, checked all possible grounds which are prone to this issue...
