Hey guys

I have completed SCJP 5 previously in the past.
Just wondering is there any specific info out there pertaining to the upgrade exam?

If not I will just go throu version 6 for Sierra Bates book

Thanks in advance

I'm going through K&B 6.

I don't have a definative answer to your question, but I remember that the Console class is new and that the two interfaces: NavigableMap and NavigableSet are new.

Also, I understand that the OCPJP 7 exam is now available. You may want to consider getting the Java 7 certificate as long as you are paying for an upgrade.

You'll be good with just K&S book.

Nice link about Java 6: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/overview/index-jsp-136246.html

I found this link in this forums frequently asked questions (FAQ):
http://www.coderanch.com/how-to/java/SCJP-FAQ#16diff15

I understand that when Oracle renumbered and renamed the exam from SCJP to OCPJP they made some other changes:

1. They made the questions easier but reduced the amount of time allowed to take the test from 180 minutes to 150 minutes.
2. They changed the passing grade from 58.3333% to 61%

The test covers the same objectives, its just that you have easier questions but less time to do it and they slightly increased to passing grade to make the overall difficulty of the test the same.

Here's a link to the Oracle web-site:
Oracle's OCPJP 6 Page

I read somewhere that they removed Serialization from the exam, but I haven't confirmed that with anybody yet.

Also, as of Java 6, an enum can be switched on in a switch statement.

Quoting myself:

I've decided to take the Java 6 exam -- not the Java 7 exam. The Java 7 exam sounds like a lot of changes to me and the study guides and practice exams probably aren't available yet since the Java 7 exam is just coming out.
